WILSON 12 HERSHEY 4
- In a potential District 3 playoff preview Wilson ends Hershey's undefeated streak/season at 10. Ryan Terefenko led Wilson on the day with 4 goals. The Trojans fell behind early 4-0 in the first and Wilson continued to pour it on from there going up 6-1 at the half and putting the game out of reach 11-2 by the end of the third.Coach Schein's team hadn't trailed a team at any point this season until Saturday. Hopefully they picked up some experience in terms of playing from behind and can use this loss as a means of improvement and getting ready for what could be a long run in the post season. Jake Wilson led the day for Hershey with 3 goals.
EPHRATA 10 CARLISLE 9
- The Mid Penn's other undefeated squad fell in an out of conference game as well as on Saturday. This one slipped away from the Herd as they led most of the day. Up 2-1 at the end of the first quarter and then 5-3 at the half they were seemingly in control. At the start of the final frame it was 8-4 Carlisle and it looked likely victory belonged to Coach Kidder and his players. Ephrata had a great finish outscoring Carlisle 6-1 highlighted by a Dakota Keefer's only goal of the day on the final score of the game with only 15 seconds left.
Carlisle will fight on as this was a tough out of conference game they probably should have won. Max Breschi led the day with 4 goals followed by George Fallers 3. Carlisle plays Hershey on Thursday in what looks to be the biggest Mid Penn game of the regular season.
HEMPFIELD 10 CUMBERLAND VALLEY 9 (OT)
- Hempfield had a slight edge over the Eagles most of the day until the fourth quarter where CV was able to outscore them 3-1 to send the game to overtime. Hempfield would get the victory and move to 10-2, but this game continues to show how much Coach Bogazyck's team is improving as the season goes on. Logan Fazakerly led the Eagles offense with 3 goals and 2 assists. Zach Ward (4 goals) and Tyler Kline (3 goals) were the leading scorers for Hempfield. It should be noted that CV long pole Bryce Weis has a broken jaw and was not available to play yesterday.
WARWICK 9 NORTHERN YORK 8
- The Polar Bears fall to 3-6 with their 5th straight loss. This is not how Coach Miller had envisioned the season going for Northern. They knew they were in for a tough stretch mid season but coming away from this winless has to hurt. Weather postponements and rescheduling have not helped Northern out at all in 2014.This game was tight through out with the halftime score being 6-4. Northern would out score Warwick 3-2 in the fourth, but could not get the 9th goal to extend the game.
Warwick is an improved squad from last season and had excellent production from their offense as 6 players were involved in the scoring. Derek Myers stepped up as the Polar Bears leading scorer with 4 goals as the normal top performers Martick and Haak only combined for 1 goal and 2 assists.

Not a good day for the Mid Penn
ReplyDeleteWhat are the predictions of the the Hershey vs Carlisle game?
ReplyDeleteNo it was not the Mid Penn's finest hour out of conference on Saturday. We suspect Carlisle and Hershey will grow and learn from these games. As for the showdown on Thursday it's going to be close but we give the slight edge to the Trojans as they seem to be more complete in all 3 aspects of the game (offense, defense, and transition)/
