PENNLIVE: GIRLS LACROSSE PREVIEW



The first full week of girls’ lacrosse is in the books, so let’s take a quick look at how things are shaking out in the Mid-Penn Conference and Lancaster-Lebanon League.
Mid-Penn Commonwealth
Projected order of finish (as determined by division coaches): Cumberland ValleyCarlisleState CollegeNorthern YorkChambersburgTrinity,Mechanicsburg
Cumberland Valley is the only team to have a division win in the books, after a victory over Mechanicsburg. After that, the only pattern that stands out in the division is that every team has at least one loss.
CV and Carlisle are tied atop the Commonwealth at 2-1.
Carlisle is using balanced scoring from Emily Reisinger (8 goals), Taylor Shughartand McKenzie Mangan (5 goals each) and Cami Charico (4 goals). Taylor Hackerand Reisinger have each dished out four assists.
Jessie Lissner has kept the opposition out of the goal, recording 34 saves to lead the division.
Cumberland Valley is led by offensively by Jordan Kulp and Anna Kennedy, who each have three goals. Emma DiGilio is tied for the division lead with four assists and Nicole Hoffmaster has dished out three. Defensively, Sophia Thomas has recorded 21 saves.
Despite not winning a game yet, Trinity’s Alex Pavone leads the division in scoring with nine goals.

Mid-Penn Keystone

Hershey is used to being on top of the Keystone Division. Once again it is off to a fast start at 4-0 overall and is the only unbeaten squad in the division.
The Trojans are also the highest-ranked Mid-Penn squad in the latest central Pa. computer rating by Laxpower.com at No. 11, just ahead of Central Dauphin.
Lauren Lechleitner tops the division’s scoring stats with 20 goals and three assists.Claire Kondracki is also in double digits with 12 goals and four assists. Ally Anderson has recorded 40 saves to lead the division.
Haley Rineer leads three Central Dauphin players atop the assists category with seven. Blair Schuyler and Brooke Frey each have five. Rineer also has 10 goals to give her 17 points. Jordan Vereb handles the keeper duties for the 2-1 Rams with 26 saves.
Lower Dauphin’s Samantha Markley and Alli Bitting are sandwiched by Hershey players among the top goal scorers with 13 each.
Lancaster-Lebanon League

Coaches who responded to PennLive surveys agree on one thing: there is Manheim Twp., Hempfield, Lancaster Country Day and the rest of the field. All three are 1-0 in the division and LCD and Hempfield are unbeaten overall as well.
But right now, Lampter-Strasburg has thrown itself into the mix as well. The Pioneers were in the bottom third of the division last year, but are 3-0 so far and are No. 1 in the computer ratings by Laxpower.com.
Kelsey Kimmel and Madison Lawhead are a big reason for the Pioneers’ early success. They have combined for 23 goals and Kimmel has six assists to lead the team offensively. Olivia Martin has recorded 18 saves for L-S.
Hempfield is using balanced scoring from Taylor Nolan and Sammy Helgeson with eight and seven goals, respectively, to keep pace with L-S. The Black Knights are just 0.08 behind the Pioneers in the computer ratings. The teams are 11 and 12 in the state ratings.
Paige Diminick has dished out five assists for Hempfield and Kathryn Kline has four. Kiaira Sumrall keeps the other team off the board with 18 saves.
Lancaster Country Day scored 44 goals to run its record to 3-0. Ashley Ingram is responsible for 15 of those goals, and Taliah Carson and Kendal Ream have each scored seven. Grace Zechman leads the division with 17 assists. Emma Stover is responsible for leading the defense, and has with 23 saves.
Elizabethtown’s Kelsey Greiner is the top keeper so far with 50 saves.
