MID PENN PREVIEW - 3/31/14

TRINITY (3-0) at BISHOP MCDEVITT (0-2) 7:00pm
- THe Crusaders and Coach Walter welcome Coach Heisey and his undefeated Shamrocks to the new McDevitt school/field tonight. In the Catholic league rivalry game Trinity has rained supreme at 3-0.
Trinity has been off to a very hot start and has established themselves as contender for the Commonwealth division and the Mid Penn title. Lead by Senior Connor Bailey on attack and Junior John Miller in the midfield they have an offense that can hurt you a number of ways. Their defense is stout returning all three long poles who started last year and are all seniors (Hickey, Behnke, and Whiteman). Junior Austin Bailey has been getting a lot of praise for his first three games in the net as well.
The Crusaders lost a lot to graduation last year and it has shown early on. Starting 0-2 with an overtime loss. Graduating Kevin Willis and Even Rickert (combined 73 goals) has left areas on their offense that need to be filled. This seasons weather caused not one but two cancellations of their game with Northern York which has now had them off for a week. Not an ideal scenario to have when Trinity comes to town. Seniors Nick Suknaic, Jackson Hanes, and Junior Cole Bevan will need to up their games tonight to have a shot at pulling off the upset.

SPRING GROVE (0-3) at NORTHERN YORK (2-0) 4:30pm
- Don't look now but the Polar Bears are 2-0 after beating Susquehannock 8-5 and Lower Dauphin 9-8 in overtime. Senior Zack Martich  has been a leader for Coach Miller and looks to continue producing as Northern attempts to get to 3-0 and put the area on notice that they are here to compete. We'll no more about that this squad as they get into the meat of their Mid Penn schedule later this week against Trinity.
Spring Grove hails from York and is 0-3 on the young season. Don't let their record full you as all 3 losses (York Suburban, Red Lion, and Eastern York) have been by 1 goal each. Talk about a tough break. Led by first year head coach Kliff Gordon the Rockets look to represent York county and give Northern their first loss of the year.
