MID PENN PREVIEW - 4/1/14

CENTRAL DAUPHIN (2-1) at CARLISLE (3-0) 4:15pm
- With a difficult loss to Hershey, CD now heads to Carlisle to take on another Mid Penn elite squad. The Rams will need to up their offensive attack plan as they are averaging just over seven goals a game. Carlisle's defense is sure to give them a challenge. Carson Wolford, Eli Hudson, and Nate Beard will need to be on top of their game with Scott Kelly making some key saves in the net for Coach Driscoll's boys to have a shot at upsetting on the road.
Carlisle is coming off a big out of conference win against Mount Lebanon. Reports of the Herd's demise seem to have been greatly exaggerated. Coach Kidders squad has yet to give up more than 3 goals in any contest this season. George Faller, Max Breshci, and Jon Mundell lead an offensive attack that has seen 12 players find the back of the net already this year.

HERSHEY (4-0) at CUMBERLAND VALLEY (2-1) 7:00pm
- The Eagles and Coach Bogaczyk have a much improved team this year especially on defense. At a program like CV it is hard to imagine they would be down for long. Only allowing 17 goals in three games (which included Trinity's high powered offense) the Eagles could put a scare in the Trojans. The real key here will be who can step up and put the offensive numbers on the board. Three games in, and that position is still up for grabs on their offense. With five players tallying 3 or 4 goals a piece there is multiple options, but to be a threat for the Mid Penn you'll need one or two guys who can step up and score at will when needed.
Hershey on the other hand may have two many offensive weapon options (a great problem to have).  With 58 goals in 4 games they know how to find the back of the net. They have 19 players who have managed to score already this year, that is far more than a lot of teams will have all year. Led by Logan Calhoun and Jake Wilson, this offensive unit will face a challenge tonight at the Eagles Nest. Their defense has only allowed 9 goals in 4 games, so it is clear they are playing excellent lacrosse.

PALMYRA (2-2) at LOWER DAUPHIN (0-2) 7:00pm
- Lower Dauphin hasn't played in a week and there last contest is probably a game they would like to forget about. Losing to Northern 9-8 in OT lingers. They will look to bounce back and get their first Mid Penn win over regional rival Palmyra. Garret Schug, Mike Mattis, and Eric Markley look to find a rhythm for Coach Vickroy and the Falcon's offense.
Palmyra had high hopes entering the 2014 season. Coming off an excellent 2013 they did not expect to find themselves 0-2 in the Mid Penn out of the gate. After two tight contests against Cumberland Valley and Central Dauphin, the Cougars know exactly what the issues are. They play good defense but they need to score more than 5 goals a game to expect to win. Joey Hess dominated early in the season and look for him to have a return to form tonight at Lower Dauphin.

CD EAST (0-3) at STATE COLLEGE (1-3) 4:00pm
- East gets a bit of a break as they have already faced Hershey and Carlisle this year. At 0-3 the Panthers seem to have a lot of problems. They have 5 goals total on the year and have allowed 55 goals in 3 games.
The Little Lions opened up Mid Penn play with a win over Mechanicsburg but have since fallen to Chambersburg and Franklin Regional. They'll look to bounce back at home today. Brady Franks and Luc Michael look to have big games.
