The news that the wings were moving may still be a shock to some of you but it appears that without a doubt this is happening, and sooner than later. There was some talk of suburban Philly areas which would have been less of a blow, but it now appears they will be moving some distance away to Connecticut.

Are the Philadelphia Wings Landing in Connecticut?
In the near-month since the Philadelphia Wings announced that the team's ownership was
exploring options to relocate prior to the 2014-15 season, scant news has surfaced about what
that meant. Would the team fold? Move to suburban Pennsylvania? Move to another city that
hasn't yet had a chance for a National Lacrosse League franchise?
With a report in today's New London Day, it appears possible that the team will be moving north,
to play at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Connecticut, home of the Connecticut Sun WNBA team.
The Mohegan Tribal Gaming Authority which owns and operates the arena and the Sun and is a
part of the Mohegan Sun Casino complex on tribal lands between New Haven, Conn. and
Providence, RI, has scheduled a press conference for Wednesday to announce the aquisition
of "a second professional sports team." Mike DiMauro of The Day cites an anonymous source
that indicates the team is one of the teams playing in the National Lacrosse League.
The league declined to comment on the story when reached on Tuesday afternoon. But given the
fact that the July 11th release that discussed the team's pending relocation mentioned that the
"organization is currently taking part in discussions with a new strategic partner for re-location,
pending NLL Board of Governor approval", this would make sense if it turns out to be the case.
We will be following this story as more information comes available.
