MID-PENN PREVIEW - BISHOP MCDEVITT

2014 Team Photo

BISHOP MCDEVITT CRUSADERS
Keystone Division
Head Coach Bob Miller
Overall Record: 3-14   Mid-Penn Record: 2-10

Following a 2013 season that saw the Crusaders go 7-10, matching the programs all time wins mark, McDevitt was unable to continue to build on the win total in 2014. For programs looking to grow a step backward doesn't mean good things aren't close. With three losses by 3 scores or less their record was some what deceiving.

Key losses include Nick Suknaic (23 goals, 12 assists Gwynedd Mercy), Jackson Hanes (19,7), Christian Fairfax (12, 2, Gwynedd Mercy), and Mid-Penn Honorable Mention Defensive Midfielder Bobby Zweigart (11,6). Additionally Coach Nate Walter resigned at the end of the 2014 season after four years of developing and building the program.

New Head Coach Bob Miller comes to Crusader Way via Mechanicsburg and Trinity. He has some key parts returning in Sophomore Griffin Hanes who tied for the leading goal scorer last year and Junior Nick Lokitis who scored 19 goals of his own. On defense notable underclassmen include  Junior goalie Tommy Sweeney and Sophomore long pole Nick Fricchione. A strong senior class led by long pole Jake Phillips have McDevitt in position to get back to winning quickly.

The big question for this team will be if they can jump up and compete with the next level of Mid-Penn teams who reside at or above the .500 mark.
