STATE PLAYOFF REPORT - QUARTERFINALS

CUMBERLAND VALLEY 9 STATE COLLEGE 7
Fantastic game from the Eagles and Little Lions as these two Mid-Penn foes met up in the quarterfinals ensuring that a Mid-Penn squad would make their first ever State Semi-Finals appearance. Their first meeting almost two months ago saw the Eagles win a close defensive bought 5-4 at State College.

CV would get the first score from Freshman Clayton Miller early. State College and Greg Mano answered to make things 1-1 juts a few minutes into the game. Rod Jamieson and CJ sherlock would find the net for the Eagles to end the first quarter up 3-1. Jamieson would get his second score of the afternoon followed by a John Miller goal as CV went up 5-1 midway through the second quarter. Things would calm down until PJ Bachman got State College's second goal of the afternoon before the end of the half to bring the score to 5-2.

In the second half Noah Schwab had some critical early saves for State College and allowed the defense to hold tight until John Seighman was able to score getting the Lions within two scores at 5-3. Clayton Miller and John Miller would each score shortly after that, both getting their second scores of the game, to give CV some breathing room at 7-3 and that is where we would end the third quarter.

State College was in a tight spot and got the early answer from Brady Franks as he scored his first and only goal of the day to get the score to 7-4. Kevin Reid followed Franks with his loan goal for the Lions and the breathing room was gone at 7-5. John Miller completed his hat trick to get CV back up 8-5. PJ Bachman and Kevin Reid continued to fight for State College and got the Lions within 1 at 8-7 with 4:27 left in the game. Seconds later CJ Sherlock grabbed his second score and gave the Eagles the 9-7 advantage. CV would survive a crucial man down and hold on for the win.

Up next for the Eagles will be St Joe's Prep on Tuesday.
