After five seasons as head coach and 10 seasons with the program, A.J. Bogaczyk has stepped down as head coach of the Cumberland Valley boys' lacrosse team.
Assistant coach Sean Ireland also resigned.
In separate letters sent to the CV players, Bogaczyk and Ireland both cited increased commitments with their jobs and wanting to spend more time with their families.
MORE AFTER THE BREAK

"It's something I had been thinking about heading into this season," said Bogaczyk, a 2003 CV grad and former lacrosse player. "I have a 3-year-old and a 1 1/2-year-old at home and it's been a fun challenge in trying to juggle everything with more travel at work too."
Cumberland Valley is coming off one of its most successful seasons in program history going 21-4 overall and 11-1 in Mid-Penn Conference play. The Eagles wereCommonwealth Division champions and also reached the Mid-Penn Conference final and their first ever District 3 final and PIAA semifinal.
"You start winning some of those games and it gets pretty addicting," Bogacyk admitted. "You start to wonder if maybe you could squeeze one more season in, but I'm really looking forward to spending more time with my wife and my girls and watching whatever they want to pursue."
Bogaczyk, who works for a product marketing company in Middletown, gave a lot of credit to this year's senior class for their leadership in guiding the program through a couple of "dark years."
"I think it's a really exciting time for the program," Bogaczyk said. "To watch these guys go through their offseason workouts and to rally around the program like they did, I think these seniors have created a new culture that some of the younger players can build on and hopefully continue when they become seniors."
Bogaczyk took over the CV varsity program in 2011 for Scott Shea after spending the previous five seasons as an assistant coach and JV coach.
The Eagles went 66-37 in Bogaczyk's five seasons reaching the Mid-Penn final in 2011 and 2015, which are also the last two times that CV reached the state playoffs.
This is the fourth notable boys' lacrosse resignation of the offseason with Kyle Wimer stepping down as head coach of District 3 champion Manheim Twp. and Dave Warmingham and Jeff Gatano doing the same at Lampeter-Strasburg  andPalmyra, respectively, earlier this summer.
