MID-PENN CONFERENCE LACROSSE AWARDS BANQUET

Last evening marked the inaugural Mid-Penn Conference awards banquet at the Radisson Hotel in Camp Hill. The evening was special not just because of the players acknowledged and their tremendous accomplishments but also because we now have our own awards ceremony closer to home where we can more readily acknowledge our players, teams, and coaches.

Almost every team in the Mid Penn was represented with Coaches Kidder, Schein, Gatano, Bogazyck, Driscoll, Flohr and King giving speeches. Dickenson Head Coach Dave Webster gave an excellent speech on some of his coaching philosophies as well as experiences he has had with three specific players in his program that he believes shows one of the many ways to build a successful program. Preparation, persistence, and passion where the character traits each one of those individual players had and what he saw as huge elements of their individual successes.

The awards portion went swiftly while still managing to give all first team, second team, and honorable mention players their respective due. These players rightfully deserve recognition as there are a large number of talented and deserving players in the area and they were recognized as the best of the best. The full list of those players is available HERE. Coach Kidder and Max Breschi also received awards for their coach and player of the year honors (article available HERE). John Schein, the Hershey head coach, gave a very poignant speech before presenting the award to Coach Kidder showing the amount of respect Kidder has among his piers in the Mid Penn.

(1st Team Recipients)

The Mid Penn Coaches were also able to get together and come up with some other great team awards. Best Team Offense as well as Best Extra Man Offense went to Hershey as you would expect. A very close decision (these were all based on statistics, not votes) also went to Hershey over Carlisle for Best Team Defense and Best Man Down Team. Trinity came in third for a number of those categories as well.

(2nd Team Recipients)

Hershey's accolades did not stop there as they received the first ever Mid Penn Lacrosse Champions trophy. This trophy will now be used instead of a certificate (which was the case in years past) for the winning team to take and place in their schools trophy case for one year. At the end of next season the trophy will be passed onto the next Mid Penn Champion and they will have their name engraved on it as well. This is a great idea as it will promote the sport within the winning team's school and help to grow awareness and participation.

(Honorable Mention Recipients)

A number of Mid Penn Coaches put in a lot of effort to setup a great event and improve our conference through this banquet. This was very evident last night and we would like to say thank you to them for their efforts in getting the awards setup as well as their continued efforts coaching and leading young men on and off the field. Congratulations to all the award winners last night.
