MID-PENN PREVIEW - TRINITY

2014 Team Photo
TRINITY SHAMROCKS
Commonwealth Division
Head Coach Dave Heisey
Overall Record: 14-4    Mid-Penn Record: 9-3

Coach Heisey continued the Shamrocks winning ways in 2014 taking them to their 3rd straight district playoff appearance and placing third overall in the Mid-Penn. 2014 was the 5th straight season of 10 or more wins for the program dating back to when they resided at the Harrisburg Academy. The Shamrocks rarely stumbled in route to the 8 seed in the District III playoff with their only Mid-Penn losses coming to Hershey, Carlisle and Central Dauphin. The district run ended earlier then they would have liked with a number of key injuries on their roster.

Trinity loses a lot in 2015 and finding replacements will be critical to their success. 1st Team Mid-Penn Defender Tim Hickey (Washington College), Jonh Behnke (Coast Guard), and Preston Whiteman all graduated leaving a completely new corp of  close defenders to replace them. Offensive weapons Connor Bailey (26 goals, 17 assists), Mitch Kleist (23, 4), and Kyle Scott (34, 10) are also gone to graduation. With the loss of transfers John Miller (24, 9) and CJ Sherlock (28, 2) Coach Heiso's next man up philosophy will be put to the test.

Senior Mark Hergenroder (Swathmore) returns from a 2014 knee injury to lead the midfield. Along with Hergenroder an excellent young group of players look to step into the COBO spotlight led by Junior Jesse Altmeyer who had a fantastic 2014 with 25 goals and 39 assists. Bryce Amos (6, 3), Mark Mandak (9,5), and Vincent Oliverio (2, 2) are also Juniors and will add to the offensive fire power. On the defensive end Austin Bailey enters his senior year as one of the best keepers in the league. Junior Griffin Smith and Senior John Kline look to anchor the defense.

The proof is in the pudding with the Rocks and although they lost a lot since last spring we fully expect them to be competing for the Commonwealth and Mid-Penn in 2015. The key match-up for the Rocks will be when they square off with Carlisle at home on April 13th. The program will have their sites set on making it deep into the district postseason as well.
