2014 Team After Winning District III Title |
CARLISLE THUNDER HERD
Commonwealth Division
Head Coach Steve Kidder
Overall Record: 18-4 Mid-Penn Record: 12-0
Historic. That is the only way to describe the Herd's 2014 season. Becoming the first Mid-Penn program to win the District III playoff is a mark they will hold forever. After an undefeated Mid-Penn regular season their only misstep came in their third straight championship game with Hershey where they lost 15-7 in an effort to repeat as MP champions. Outside of that game no Mid-Penn team during the regular season, including Hershey, got within 4 goals of Carlisle. With an average margin of victory of 7.1 goals they were dominant all spring and earned themselves a #2 seed in the district tournament.
Mid-Penn player of the year and stand out attackman Max Breschi (57 goals, 29 assists) has graduated as well as 1st Team Mid-Penn Selections Jon Mundell (29,19), Defender Sid Ewell, and Goal Keeper Mark Bowser (149 saves). In addition to the first team selections Taylor McGrath (11,9), Hunter Scott (15,16), and Collin Wallace (36,18) are also gone to graduation.
Coach Kidder showed last season after loosing his entire close defense to graduation that this program has players ready to step in and maintain the level of excellence the Herd has demonstrated for years. In 2015 that group will be led by Sophomore George Faller (35,4), 2nd Team Defensive Midfielder Selection Tim Roesler, and Widener committ Drew Amsley (27,19). Senior Matt Fuller (18 saves) replaces Bowser in the net after seeing some action last season.
Until we see something to indicate otherwise the Commonwealth looks to be Carlisle's to loose. Major tests will be represented by Trinity, CV, and State College.
