No games Friday so we decided to do a team by team report as we approach the end of the first quarter of the season. Looks like a very even field with a couple of teams earning some strong wins and possibly pulling away.
CUMBERLAND VALLEY (5-0)
After a miraculous come from behind victory over Carlisle this past Wednesday night the Eagles have set themselves up for shot at the Commonwealth division. Having out scored their opponents 57-18 they are show casing ability on both sides of the field. With Rod Jamieson, John Miller, Stevie Peters, and CJ Sherlock all having 10 or more goals it is difficult to shutdown their offensive unit.

TRINITY (4-0)
At 4-0 and the Shamrocks have had two difficult MP matchups already beating Lower Dauphin 10-9 in overtime and a come back from a 5-1 deficit to defeat Central Dauphin 9-5 shows this team has real grit. Jesse Altmeyer is off to a fantastic start with 11 assists while Mark Mandak and Steve Hergenroeder lead the team in goals at 8 a piece.

HERSHEY (3-0)
The Trojans have gotten off to a fantastic start outscoring their opponents 49-14 in 3 games. League leaders Jake Wilson (21 goals) and Brook Briggs (17 assists) are on an absolute tear and a historic pace as the area's best 1-2 combo in recent memory. Early wins over State College and Chambersburg have the Trojans in a spot most expected them to be as they aim to defend their 2014 title.
MORE AFTER THE JUMP
CARLISLE (3-1)
The Herd is not as dominant as they were last spring in the Mid-Penn as they have been in three one score games already. A costly final minute with CV could affect their chances at winning the Commonwealth again this season. They will need some help which is a position they are not very familiar with. Drew Amsley (10 goals, 7 assists) and Sophomore George Faller (8 goals, 4 assists) act as center pieces to their offense.
CENTRAL DAUPHIN (3-1)
The Rams have recovered nicely following a tough loss to Trinity in their opening game. One goal wins over Chambersburg (9-8 OT) and McDevitt (7-6) keep a lot in play for this squad. Damien Koussis (6 goals, 2 assists) and Chris Martin (4,4) have asserted themselves as stat leaders for the offense from the attack. A strong defense puts them in position to win with whom ever they face.
STATE COLLEGE (3-2)
Following opening losses to Parkland (3-1) and Hershey (14-6) the Little Lions have bounced back with three straight MP wins over CD East, Lower Dauphin, and Palmyra. Brady Franks (11 goals, 5 assists) and PJ Bachman (8,7) lead an offense with multiple options to score.
CHAMBERSBURG (2-2)
Opening the season with a come from behind win against McDevitt that saw them score twice in the final minute to win 9-8 was a big start for Chambersburg. A difficult OT loss to CD and struggles against Hershey see this team at 2-2. In a what looks to be a very competitive grouping of teams in the MP this season we expect Jake Pierson (9 goals, 3 assists) and Grant Swisher (11 goals, 9 assists) to continue to put the Trojans in the win column.
NORTHERN YORK (1-2)
After a 19-0 victory over CD East the Polar Bears have dropped two straight to Lower Dauphin (11-8) and Cumberland Valley (13-1). Andrew Sade (11 goals) and Derek Myers (8 goals) are off to good starts and should be able to help a young team continue to grow and find more wins.
MECHANICSBURG (1-2)
The Wildcats got their first win of the season in dramatic fashion with a 10-9 victory over McDevitt after trailing 4-0 early in the first quarter. A program that looks to be on the rise had two difficult match-ups with CV (12-2) and Carlisle (15-3). Reagan Pritchett is a stand out long pole and their offense has a variety of weapons in Jack Moyer, Sam Shipman, Alec Martin, and Jaryn Ruth.
LOWER DAUPHIN (1-4)
Some very tough breaks find the Falcons at 1-4. One goals losses to Trinity (10-9 OT), State College (8-7 OT), Governor Mifflin (8-7), and Carlisle (8-7) show you how good this team really is and how their record does not reflect what they are capable of. Garret Schugg continues to impress as the number three scorer in the MP with 13 goals and 6 assists.
CD EAST (0-3)
For the Panthers the start to this season has not gone as planned. Being out scored 53-0 in 3 games is cause for concern. For East the goal should continue to be player development and learning the joy of the sport.
PALMYRA (0-4)
At 0-4 the Cougars are also better than their record having lost to quality opponents Carlisle (7-6) and Ephrata (8-7) by one goal. Tyler Gallagher is getting a lot of well deserved attention as a lock down defender and terrorizing whom ever he draws on attack. Nick Sherrif has a league leading 55 saves in the net. Scoring has been an issue as they have no player with more than 3 goals on the season (4 players have three goals).
MCDEVITT (0-4)
The Crusaders are also in the group of teams finding the wrong end of close games. Three one goal losses to Chambersburg (9-8), Mechanicsburg (10-9), and Central Dauphin (7-6) show how close this program is to turning the corner. Nick Lokitis (11 goals, 2 assists) and Griffin Hanes (10 goals, 3 assists) have stepped up to lead the offense.
