MID-PENN PREVIEW 4/13

CARLISLE (5-2) AT TRINITY (5-2)
Big match-up for two teams whose Commonwealth hopes could very well hinge on this game. The past three seasons the division has come down to the Shamrocks and Herd but this season Cumberland Valley (8-0) has established themselves as lead dogs and neither team can afford to give up any ground. A loss here would most likely end their hopes for the Mid Penn Championship.
Trinity is coming off a 12-11 loss to the a fore mentioned Eagles on Thursday. Carlisle just had a difficult home loss to Hempfield (16-7) on Saturday.

Trinity has showcased a variety of scoring options this spring making them a dangerous offensive unit with excellent ball movement. Mark Mandack, the Hergenroeder brothers, Jesse Altmeyer, and Vincent Oliverio all have 10+ goals on the season. Altmeyer is also one of the top assist men in the MP. For the Herd, Drew Amsley and George Faller have been the center of their offensive game plan along with their classic ball control style of play. This game could very well come down to which goalie has the better night with Austin Bailey for Trinity and Matt Fuller for Carlisle both being up to the task.

LOWER DAUPHIN (4-4) AT CENTRAL YORK (4-4)
The Falcons have battled back from a tough 1-4 start where they suffered four 1 goal losses to win three straight games. A difficult Panthers squad awaits who, like LD, opened the season poorly (0-4) but have since rebounded nicely. The Falcons have developed some nice scorers led by one of the MP's top performers in Garrett Schug (21 goals, 8 assists). Michael Yarrish (15,11) and Kevin beaver (13,11) will also figure into the mix. For Central York keep an eye on Kanton Yantek.  Central has gone 1-1 against the MP with a loss to Hershey (16-5) and a win over Northern York (14-2).

MORE AFTER THE BREAK

SOUTH WESTERN (3-4) AT CHAMBERSBURG (2-4)
The Trojans have dropped four of their last five, all MP conference games, and are looking to get things turned around against an out of conference opponent. Jake Pierson (16 goals, 3 assists) and Grant Swisher (12,12) provide an excellent 1-2 combo with face-off man Collin Bricker (4,8) always giving them an excellent chance to win possessions. The Mustangs represent a game Chambersburg should be able to win as the Mustangs three wins have come against lesser opponents.

RED LION (5-2) AT PALMYRA (2-6)
The Cougars have played tough and been in some close losses to talented teams making their 2-6 mark a deceiving one. Red Lion will be another tough opponent as they have been dominant in their last three contests outscoring their opponents 31-15. Palmyra can neutralize a lot of offensive units with Tyler Gallagher's ability to shut down any attack man. Pete Robinson and Trevor Frye will need to continue to produce for the offense. Sam Emig and Jack Gemmil are the names to know on the Lions offense.

MECHANICSBURG (2-5) AT YORK SUBURBAN (5-2)
The Wildcats get a day off after going 1-1 in a Saturday double header. The Trojans will be a tough opponent but have loss their only MP game to Lower Dauphin 10-4. Alec Martin, Sam Moyer, and Sam Shipman will need to continue to develop and produce for the Mechanicsburg offense.
