MID PENN PREVIEW - 4/10/14

NORTHERN YORK (2-3) at HERSHEY (7-0) 4:15PM
- After a heart breaking loss to Trinity on the road last night very few teams would want to have to go to Hershey the next day. Unfortunately for Coach Miller's Polar Bears that is the reality of a schedule that has seen them have to postpone many games due to field conditions. If they can emulate their performance from last night with great defense and get Martich and Haak free they could hope to run with the Trojans.
Coach Schein's squad has been on a rampage since the start of the season and will look for that to continue today at home. Logan Calhoun, George Briggs, and Jake Wilson have been a force. Their defense led by goalie Kyle Kondracki has been dominant as well. The Trojans have outscored opponents 112-18 in seven games and present a real challenge for the Polar Bears today.

TRINITY (6-0) at PALMYRA (4-3) 4:15PM
- Another game that will be a test for the visitor due to rescheduling issue. Trinity is coming off last nights battle with Northern and must travel to the #2 team in the Keystone Divisions house. The Shamrocks showed they can gut out a tough win and have a multitude of players who can step up and score. No matter if it's Miller, Bailey, Sherlock, Kleist, and now Altmeyer they can get the ball in the cage. Coach Heisey might be a bit concerned about sloppy transition play and his offense if Miller gets locked off.
Coach Gatano and the Cougars are at a cross roads for where they stand in the Mid Penn. A win today would establish them as a top team in the conference. Look for Joey Hess and Nick Mazzocca to be involved in the game plan early and often.

CHAMBERBSURG (3-1) at CENTRAL DAUPHIN (3-4) 7:30PM
- How good are the Trojans? Tonight will be an excellent barometer for where they stand. Having only played 4 games, with their lone MP contest being a win over State College, we are not entirely sure how they measure up against the rest of the league. One thing we do know is Nick Lombardozzi can play. With 15 goals and 4 assists on the season he has established himself as a domiant player and excelletn replacement for Taylor Tolbert.
Central Dauphin looks to be bouncing back after a convincing win at Mechanicsburg. That win ended a three game skid and saw their offense erupt courtesy of Nate Beard, Eli Hudson, and Colton Nye. Scott Kelly and the defense were also impressive and look to be regaining the form of last years Rams team. Look for Drsicoll to continue to grow and develop this quad through out the season.

MECHANICSBURG (2-4) at CUMBERLAND VALLEY (3-4) 4:30PM
-The Eagles may be the best 3-4 team in league and we are not being flip. They have had some tough contests to open Mid Penn play and look like a team that will only get better and stronger as the season goes on. A home game with Mechancisburg should give them the opportunity to show case their talents. Look for Logan Fazakerly and Tommy Lehman to have good days on offense.
Mechanicsburg is coming a difficult home defeat by CD on Tuesday and is looking to get things headed in the right direction today on the road. Look for Seniors Eddie Martin and Aaron Heisey to get the offense going.

BISHOP MCDEVITT (0-5) at CARLISLE (6-0) 4:30PM
- The Crusaders are still searching for win number one and it may be very difficult to find at Carlisle. The Herd's defense has been virtually impossible to score on. We don't expect Sid Ewell and Mark Bowser to let up much today. Look for Breschi, Faller, and Mundell to be involved in the offense.
The Crusaders will need to find some way to either Jackson Hanes, Nick Sucnaic, or Cole Bevan going offensively. McDevitt only has 11 goals in their past 4 games.

STATE COLLEGE (5-3) at LOWER DAUPHIN (1-5) 7:00PM
- The Little Lions bring a 4 game winning streak to Lower Dauphin who has lost 5 of 6 to open the season. Brady Franks and Luc Michael have been leading State College's charge and should be able to get the Lions to 4-1 in Mid Penn play today.
Coach Vickroy and the Falcons have lost some close ones this year and could very well be better than their record shows. They will need to start scoring more than their season high of 8 goals. Mike Mattis, Garret Schug, and Albert Gremmel are the players most likely to get this going for them.
