MID PENN REPORT - 4/5/14

TRINITY 6 EXETER TOWNSHIP 5
- Traveling on the road is often a challenge for teams. For Trinity on Friday an undersized bus, late arrival, and the fact the game was moved from their home field (due to grass conditions) made this even more of issue.
Exeter was able to jump out to a 3-0 lead until the Shamrocks found a rhythm and took the lead at the end of the half 4-3 courtesy of Senior attackman Connor Bailey. Bailey would finish with one goal and an assist while Junior standouts John Miller (2 goals, 1 assist) and CJ Sherlock (1 goal, 1 assist) were able to get involved. The story of the day was the goal keepers. The Shamrocks goalie, Junior Austin Bailey, has been playing well and continued that trend with 9 saves. Exeter's goalie made things every difficult for the Rocks with 16 saves.
A nice out of conference road win for Coach Heisey where his squad showed poise and experience under less than ideal circumstances.

EASTERN YORK 12 MECHANICSBURG 5
- Coming off a road win at CD East the Wildcats were looking to get over .500 against a decent York club. The Golden Knights took the lead early in the first but Senior Cat's midfielder Aaron Heisey was able to get his team back in the game as the score went to 4-2 at the half.
Mechanicsburg came out into the third quarter strong scoring twice with Senior midfielder Donnie Houseal knotting the game up at 4. This however was as good as things would get for the Wildcats. Eastern would score 5 unanswered to end the third frame with excellent out side shooting from Conrad Rhein (3 goals, 2 assists) and Jon Whitman who regularly found the crease for open shots (3 goals).
The Wildcats are a developing squad and showing improvement. If they can put together a complete game they may surprise some teams. They head into the meat of their Mid Penn schedule next week against Central Dauphin.
