MID PENN REPORT - 4/9/14

STATE COLLEGE 8 CUMBERLAND VALLEY 7
- Both CV and State College were hoping to make an upward move in the Commonwealth Division yesterday. The first half belonged to the Little Lions as they busted out to a 6-0 lead. The Eagles showed resolve and fought back to bring the score to 8-4 in the fourth and made a late run to bring it with in one. To little offense in the early going cost Coach Bogazyck's squad in this one.
State College has relied heavily on Brady Franks all season. He was able to find the back of the net in this one, but only once with no assists. Instead the Lions got other scores going with Luc Michael (2 goals) and Jake Knouse (2 goals) leading a day that saw 6 players score for State College. Noah Schwab held strong with 11 saves despite the late run by CV.
The Eagles were led by Tommy Lehman (4 goals) and Rod Jamieson (2 goals). Fazakerly was kept in check with only 1 score. Nic Brown got the nod in the cage and had 5 saves on the day.

CENTRAL DAUPHIN 16 MECHANICSBURG 3
- CD broke a 1-1 tie early in the first and never looked back. 3-1 at the end of the first and then 6-1 at the half the Rams put the game out of reach with a 9 goals third quarter. The Rams offensive attack had their way for the most the day starting with a 2 man offensive set from X where they would dodge and score or feed. Later in the game they were able to find success dodging and shooting from the top.  Eli Hudson had a great day with  4 goals and 1 assist followed by Nate Beard (2 goals) and  Colton Nye (2 goals). Coach Driscoll has got to be hoping this was the day that will spark continued success for his offense. 8 players ultimately were able to score for the Rams.
Mechanicsburg  looked like they would be able to run with CD and keep it closer than the final score in the early going. An early goal gave hope that they may be able to score on the stout Ram defense. Unfortunately senior midfielder Eddie Martin's first quarter goal was not followed until sophomore attackman Sam Shipman found the net twice in the 4th quarter. Next up for the Wildcats will be a difficult road test at CV.

CHAMBERSBURG 18 CD EAST 1
- Chambersburg is making statements early in  the season. Often over looked due to their location as the western most team in the Mid Penn the Trojans are garnering recognition. At 3-1 with 2 dominant Mid Penn wins they could be a dark horse in the Commonwealth to push for the division. Nick Lombardozzi had a terrific day with  6 goals and Jake Pierson also did well with 5 goals
CD East continues to look for win number one but to be honest has not gotten very close. Christian Hess again prevented the shut out with  1 goal.

CARLISLE 11 LOWER DAUPHIN 2
- Carlisle stays undefeated on the year at 6-0 with a convincing win over Lower Dauphin. The Herd leaned on senior standout John Mundell as he was dominant on face-offs and involved with the scoring all afternoon (1 goal, 4 assists). Carlilse had many contributors on the day with Max Breschi (3 goals, 2 assists), Taylor McGrath (2 goals), and Drew Amsley (2 goals) all getting involved. The defense continues to be impressive only allowing 13 goals in 6 games (no team has scored more than 3 on the Herd).
Coach Vickroy and the Falcons were hoping to ride the momentum of their first win but will fall to 1-5. Kevin Beaver and Albert Gremmel were both able to find the back of the cage while Justin Guevarez had 15 saves.

NORTHERN YORK vs PALMYRA
- Postponed due to weather/field conditions. Northern has now had 3 games postponed 4 times. They will have a crowded schedule the next month.
