MID-PENN PREVIEW - CUMBERLAND VALLEY

CUMBERLAND VALLEY EAGLES
Commonwealth Division
Head Coach AJ Bogacyzk
Overall Record: 10-8    Mid-Penn Record: 7-5

The Eagles returned to form in 2014 after a 2013 season saw them rebuilding from a large senior class graduation. Coach Bogaczyk stayed the course and developed an impressive group of young players who have this program poised to make a run at the Commonwealth Division. Finishing at #17 in district seeding (one spot out of the playoffs) last spring, CV looks to take make some serious noise in 2015.

Key wins last season included victories over Palmyra, Chambersburg, and CD. A final regular season loss to Northern York (5-7) cost them a spot in districts. Graduation will not hurt them as much as two years ago but they do lose leading scorers Tommy Lehman (42 goals, 12 assists), Nick Zumbrum (31,5) and Logan Fazakerly (29, 16).

Thomas Arentz (Christopher Newport) will lead the way on defense at long pole with Junior Nic Brown returning in the cage after taking over the spot last spring (129 saves). On the offensive side of the ball the Eagles welcome Senior transfers John Miller (Seton Hill) and CJ Sherlock (Virginia Wesleyan). Couple that with Senior Rod Jamieson (24,15), Sophomore Stevie Peters (Villanova letter of intent), and Junior Jeff Hamlin (9,5) and the Eagles have a variety of players who can hurt you on both sides of the ball.

CV is the last team not named Hershey or Carlisle to win the Mid-Penn title. They'll look to add to their 2010 hardwear in 2015. To do this they need to win the Commonwealth with Carlisle and Trinity as key match-ups.
